We are a couple living in Hungary, owners of two cheerful Bernese Mountain Dogs. We launched the apartment in January 2023, putting our heart and soul into decorating it in the colors of the sea so that our guests would feel at home and comfortable from the moment they arrived. Perhaps this is why we already have several returning guests since our first year, which is the greatest recognition for us.
It is important to us that we offer not only accommodation but also a pleasant experience. Therefore, if required, we are happy to help with car rental, excursions, and program recommendations to make your vacation truly memorable.

It is no coincidence that Tenerife is known as the "island of eternal spring" – it has a balanced, pleasant climate all year round, making it an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation and active recreation in any month.
🌞 Sunny even in winter
From October to February, daytime temperatures in the southern part of Tenerife – where our apartment is located – typically range between 21 and 26 °C, while nights are mild (15–18 °C).
The ocean water is still 20–22 °C at this time of year, so many people still enjoy swimming, especially on sunny afternoons. What's more, due to the sunshine and sheltered locations, it often feels warmer than the weather forecast suggests.
🌴 Pleasant even in summer
During the summer months (June–September), temperatures are generally between 28 and 32 °C, but thanks to the refreshing trade winds, the heat is quite bearable.
💨 Little rainfall, lots of sunshine
There is hardly any rain for most of the year, especially in the southern part of the island, which enjoys more than 300 days of sunshine annually.🌫️ Calima – what to expect?
Occasionally, there may be a phenomenon known as calima, which is warm, dusty air coming from the Sahara. During this time, the air may be slightly dustier for a few days, and the temperature may rise – it may feel up to 5–7 °C warmer. This phenomenon is not very common and usually lasts for a short time.

In Tenerife, UV radiation is exceptionally strong all year round, even on cloudy or windy days. The pleasant climate, wind and cool mornings can be misleading – but the sun's rays are still effective at these times.
That's why it's recommended to use sunscreen all day long, not just when sunbathing!
Even 20-30 minutes of sun exposure per day can be enough to cause sunburn, especially on the first few days. What do we recommend?
- High factor sunscreen (minimum SPF 30–50) is recommended for use from morning to evening.
- It is advisable to apply it before leaving and then reapply it several times during the day, especially after swimming, sweating, or toweling off.
- Choose waterproof sunscreen when you go to the beach or pool.
- The shoulders, nose, forehead, and feet are particularly sensitive areas—don't forget them!
- As additional protection, wear a hat, sunglasses, and light-colored clothing.
🛍 Where to buy sunscreen?
Although you can bring sunscreen from home, it is more practical to purchase it in Tenerife, as:
- Local products are specifically designed for strong UV radiation.
- They often have a better texture and do not leave white marks like many home sunscreens.
- Easy to obtain:
- You can find sunscreen with various SPF factors in the complex's convenience store
- Available in all major supermarkets (e.g., Mercadona, HiperDino), drugstores (e.g., Müller) or pharmacies
- Also available in stores near the beach, but often more expensive there

Tenerife's cuisine is both simple and exciting – the island's unique location, Spanish influences and proximity to Africa all contribute to its diverse flavors. If you like trying new foods, you won't be disappointed here!
Tenerife is famous for its wines, especially the Malvasia variety. It is worth visiting the local wine cellars.
🥔 Wrinkled potatoes with mojo sauce
One of the island's specialties is this Canarian "staple food": small potatoes cooked in their skins until wrinkled in salted water, served with two types of dipping sauce:
- Mojo rojo (red, slightly spicy, paprika and garlic sauce)
- Mojo verde (green, coriander or parsley version)
🐟 Fresh fish and seafood
Almost every restaurant in Tenerife offers fresh catches every day:
- Dorada, vieja or cherne – these local fish are best when grilled.
- Squid (calamares) and octopus (pulpo) are common delicacies on the menu.
- Seafood is often served simply, prepared with olive oil and garlic.
🥩 Carne fiesta and other meat dishes
- Carne fiesta: spicy, marinated, fried pork bites, often served as tapas
- Conejo en salmorejo: braised rabbit in Canarian sauce – a more unusual but delicious choice
- Grilled meats (parrillada mixta) are also popular, especially in mountain restaurants.
🧀 Local cheeses
Canarian goat cheeses (e.g., queso fresco, or grilled cheese: queso asado) make excellent appetizers or tapas – they are often served with honey or mojo sauce.
🍰 Sweets
- Bienmesabe – almond, honey, and cinnamon cream
- Frangollo – a traditional dessert made from milk, raisins, and corn flour
In many places, fresh fruit, bananas or mangoes are served.
-
🍷 Local wines
Tenerife's volcanic soil produces wines with unique characteristics. Worth trying:
- White wines (vino blanco) – fresh, fruity flavors
- Red wines (vino tinto) – full-bodied, distinctive, mainly from the northern regions
- Malvasía – a sweet dessert wine, a true local specialty
🍺 Beers
- The best-known local brand is Dorada, which is available on tap almost everywhere.
- Try the Dorada Especial or Tropical versions too.
🥃 Ron miel – honey rum
One of the Canary Islanders' favorite drinks is a sweet, spicy honey rum, which is often served at the end of a meal or even given as a gift. It is pleasant, not too strong, and very delicious!
Further tips for gastronomic experiences:
- The local "guachinche" restaurants are real hidden gems: these are small family-run eateries offering homemade food and wine at friendly prices.
- The fresh markets (e.g., Las Chafiras-Mercado del Agricultor) are excellent places to buy local cheeses, fruits, and wines.
- The "menu del día" (daily menu) is common on menus – usually consisting of a starter, main course, dessert, and drink at a very good price (approx. €10–15).
☕ Barranquito – the Canarian coffee specialty
The barraquito is a real local favorite: a layered coffee drink containing
- condensed milk,
- espresso,
- whipped milk,
- lemon peel,
- a little cinnamon
- and some liqueur (usually Licor 43).
It is extremely spectacular, creamy, and delicious—but since it contains alcohol, it is not recommended to consume before driving.
-
In Spain – including Tenerife – regulations on driving under the influence are strict.
- The general legal limit for drivers is approximately 0.5 g/l (0.05%), allowing minimal alcohol consumption, such as a glass of wine or beer.
- However, tolerance is very narrow, and blood alcohol levels can rise quickly, especially in hot weather or for those unaccustomed to drinking.
