Anaga Mountains

60 km away from our apartment

The Anaga Mountains are located in the northeast of Tenerife and are one of the oldest volcanic areas on the island. They are characterized by steep, green mountains, deep gorges, and small, scattered villages, which can often only be reached by winding, narrow roads. The area is famous for its laurel forests (laurisilva), where the weather is often humid and foggy, giving the landscape a particularly mystical atmosphere. There are numerous well-marked hiking trails along the ridges and valleys, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and the surrounding coastline. The Anaga Biosphere Reserve is protected, so its natural values and traditional rural lifestyle have remained relatively untouched.
