Playa de las Teresitas

Playa de las Teresitas is located in the northeast of Tenerife, near the village of San Andrés, about a 10-15 minute drive from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The beach is unique in that its golden sand was brought from the Sahara, as the island's natural beaches are mostly dark volcanic sand. The coast is long, wide and protected by breakwaters, so it is generally calm and safe to go into the water and swim. It is an excellent choice for families because the water is shallow and there are sun loungers, parasols, showers and beach bars in several places. There is usually free parking directly behind the beach, but it can get quite crowded on weekends and during the high season. The surrounding hillside viewpoints (mirador) offer beautiful photo opportunities of the entire bay.
